Lucy & Tom- Tewin Bury Farm Hotel
Lucy and Toms wedding is to date the furthest I have ever travelled in order to shoot a wedding day. All the way up to Hertfordshire. As soon as I got the call through from Lucy I knew that this would be a very special day, and something a bit different. I drove up to meet Lucy and Tom to discuss their wedding day, view the farm where the reception would be, and to do a pre wedding photo shoot on the farm. It was lovely to meet both Lucy and Tom, and their 5 dogs! The shoot was lovely and gave us an opportunity to look around the farm with a view to the wedding day.
On the day itself I arrived at the salon where Lucy was getting ready. The weather was looking rather grey but a quick check of the forecast predicted a sunny afternoon. I got some nice candid shots of hair being done, then I left off for the registry office.
Tom and Lucy had chosen to have a very small and intimate ceremony, just them, and four of their friends. It was very sweet and it felt like an absolute pleasure to be there. After the ceremony, we had a quick confetti shot out side then off to Tewin Bury Farm Hotel.
As this area was very alien to me I had never worked at this hotel before. Its a lovely old farm, converted to a luxury hotel and function rooms. The welcome drinks took place in a big courtyard area next to the river. Very picturesque. After enjoying a very nice meal and photographing the speeches, there was some time to pop back outside for some shots with the flower girls, Lucy and Lucy's Mum. Here we got creative and fun, with some jumping about and some races. The whole day had a very relaxed feel, which really worked well.
Quite different in structure to most weddings, after the meal it was time to move on to another venue. This time on to the farm, where Lucy and Tom live, and where Tom works as a Gamekeeper. After enjoying some much needed tea and biscuits, Lucy, Tom and myself hopped into the all terrain vehicle and made our way around the spots we had scouted out weeks before. Plus we revisited some of the places we had shot during their engagement shoot! I especially love the shots of them waist deep in the golden crops. I was delighted with how they came out. It was a real pleasure to be part of such an intimate day, and I wish all the best for the future for this lovely couple.
