Sherrie & Gavin - Blackstock Barn
Sherrie and Gavin's day at Blackstock Barn in Hellingly was a little gem of a day, tucked away in August. With a yellow theme running through the day you really got that summery feel.
I arrived at Sherries house to a sea of people. I love a nice full house with lots of smiling faces and this was one of those days. A big highlight of the morning was the couples daughter Megan, who kept everybody entertained with her antics, including one of my favourite shots of the day, holding a banana up in the air. Why I don't know, but it made us all laugh. I always try and get a photograph of the dresses hung up together, and on this day I chose an unconventional space along an unfinished cupboard. The room had a lot of light pouring into it though and I think the resulting images came out great. This was also the room where Sherrie put on her dress and, made her finishing touches, courtesy to her bridesmaid and hair stylist Hannah. Once everybody was dressed, it was off to the venue.
Steph had been following the guys in their morning preparations and with Gavins two best men and Groomsman there were a lot of laughs. Steph captured all the little details and the candid preparations perfectly. Plus of course some group pics of everybody looking sharp before they make their way to the wedding.
Blackstock is a unique venue and one I visit with increasing regularity. The combination of traditional barn and country farm setting make it the perfect spot for weddings with that countryside feel. When I saw Gavin for the first time he did look a little nervous but excited too, as do most Grooms to be fair. Sherrie arrived and was really excited to be there as you can see from the photos below. Upon making her entrance to the room Gavin started to tear up and the rest of the ceremony had that lovely emotional energy to it. You really do get to know a couple over the course of a booking so its lovely to then be a part of the big day itself and see how much it means to the couple and their guests. The ceremony included some lovely readings and a lot of laughter, it really was a pleasure to capture it all.
After the ceremony it was outside for photos and down onto the farm itself for some couple shots. My personal favourite being the ring photo with a twist, with daughter Megan getting her hand in it as well. It really shows what a tight knit family Sherrie and Gavin has.
We went back in for some lovely heart felt speeches and on into the evening do full of dancing and good times. You could tell that everybody was going to have a great time until the small hours. It really was a great atmosphere. After the couples first dance there was just time to take a few more shots of Sherrie and Gavin out the front of the venue before we left for the day, despite the low light levels these came out really well in the setting sun.
Steph and myself want to wish Sherrie and Gavin all the very best. They have a beautiful family and a bright future.
