Sharyn & Lee - Bannatynes Hotel
I met Sharyn and her friend Helen at a local wedding Fayre and I was delighted when they both booked me to photograph their weddings, Sharyn & her husband to be Lee, were the second of the two, as I had already photographed Rings: Helen & Simon's Wedding earlier in the year. So I knew before even arriving at Bannatynes that this would be a day full of familiar faces!
Both Sharyn and Lee had decided to get ready in different parts of the hotel, which makes things very easy for us as we don't have to go to different addresses in the morning. everything happens in one place. We got to Sharyns room to find her having her makeup done and enjoying a glass of bubbles. We took some time to get some photos of the couples daughter playing around in the room and admiring her Mummy's dress. It was a very sunny day, and there was loads coming through the windows it made for great shots. I try and use natural light over flash as much as possible and the softness of sunlight looks much nicer. Sharyn and Lee had always been a good laugh in the run up to the day and we had a lot of fun shooting the mornings action as everybody got dressed up and ready for the celebrations.
Steph broke off from me at this point to go and find Lee, as he made his finishing touches and went to greet the guests, who were arriving for the ceremony.
Sharyn by this point was getting her dress on and making her finishing touches, with help from Helen and her other bridesmaids. Sharyn looked stunning and it wasn't long before she was ready to make her grand entrance to the ceremony.
The ceremony itself was great, out in the September sunshine everybody had a lovely time watching these two tie the knot and the shots we got came out really well. I don't think Sharyn or Lee will mind me saying that they don't take themselves too seriously. So the ceremony was packed with funny moments. After the kisses had been had and the register had been signed, the couple left to a shower of confetti and off to some family photographs.
I made sure that Sharyns list of family photographs was completed, and the joy of Bannatynes is that you have so much space to play with. I always do the shots in the gardens facing the back of the hotel. Im a big fan of symmetry, and with the big evergreen trees on each side of the path you get a very pleasing setting. There was just time to get a few photos of Sharyn & Lee by themselves and then everyone went in for the wedding breakfast.
The evening do was full of fun and dancing as I thought it would be. One of my favourite shots I took of the day, and one of my faves of the year is the black and white photo taken during the first dance you can see below, where Lee is holding the couples daughter aloft in front of the crowd of guests. The whole shot came together so well and looks very dramatic.
Thanks Sharyn & Lee for letting us be a part of your big day and making it such an enjoyable experience. All the best.
