Steph & Will - Swallows Oast
As a wedding photographer, you get to attend the weddings of some fantastic people. Sometimes you also get the pleasure of being there for the weddings of friends. However this wedding was something even more special. For those of you who have had your wedding photographed by D.B Photography, Steph will be a familiar face. My long time colleague, button hole extraordinaire, and one of my oldest friends. Steph and Will had a wonderful day, full of laughter and of course many a quirky moment.
In the morning I had the opportunity to spend time with both Bride and Groom during their prep. Starting at Stephs Parents house in Northiam, with everybody getting ready and having hair done by Hati Cole. I got some shots of all the important wedding items, and some good candid shots of the girls getting ready.
Then it was off to Ticehurst, to visit Will and his Groomsmen, and off course Beany Ween, their famous cat, who would feature heavily in the day!
Swallows Oast is a really lovely venue, and everyone had worked really hard to get it looking so nice. I have know Steph ever since I was born as our parents are great friends. It was lovely therefore to have my Parents and my Wife there too. The ceremony was lovely and an insight into Stephs brain. Who else would come into the ceremony to the 'Imperial March' from 'Star Wars' and leave to 'Everything is Awesome' from the 'Lego Movie'?! Another great moment was when the Registrar called Steph David . . . Which is her Dads name. This made everyone roar with laughter and having seen that registrar many times since then, we are not letting her forget it in a hurry.
The group photos took place through the woods and into the fields at Swallows Oast. The venue has a lot of variety to it. Which means your wedding photos can have many different settings and feels. Included within the group photos was something a little special too. Steph, lets say, likes cats. Ok she adores them, none more so than her own cat 'Beany'. So how about a group photo of people running and a giant cat ready to attack Godzilla style. A truly unique photo opportunity.
The evening was great, so much dancing and crazy moments/photo opportunities. Including the famous lightsabre photo which came out just as id hoped.
To be part of the day was a complete and utter pleasure. It was a strange experience to see such an old friend get married but a truly joyous occasion.
