Jessy & Will - Pembroke Lodge, Richmond Park
Jessy & Will's Wedding in early August 2016 was one that I knew would be a challenge. Every venue was brand new to us and not only that, but a couple of hours drive there and back. Also I knew this day had the potential to be one of the most photogenic weddings of the year. Jessy had kept me in the loop through all the planning stages of their wedding day, so I knew their Midsummer Nights Dream inspired celebration would be one we needed to make the most of. Im pleased to say that, Jessy and Will, plus Steph and myself were really pleased with the resulting photographs. Here is how the day panned out.
We arrived together at the hotel where both the Bride and Groom were getting ready, The Petersham Hotel. Then made our way up to see Jessy and her bridal party. They were all together in a really pretty room at the back of the hotel, overlooking the Thames and the Richmond area. Steph went off to find Will and his Groomsmen whilst I carried on with taking photos of the shoes and flowers etc. Flowers were going to be such a big part of the day, with beautiful bouquets, decorations and even flowers adorning Jessy's hair. It was certainly not difficult to capture laughs and smiles throughout the morning, these are always some of the nicest images and the Bridal party did not disappoint.
As you can see from the photographs below, the Grooms party did not disappoint either! Will and his Groomsmen took a wander round the park with Steph to capture a few images and had a good laugh doing so. We always encourage people to make the photographs fun and relaxed as these always look more natural.
Jessy was ready to go by the time Steph had got to the church with the guys. She looked absolutely stunning in her vintage inspired dress and veil. The whole day had such a lovely style in fact, right down to the small details. One of my favourites being the Orders of Service, in the style of a newspaper. Something I had not seen before. It was also very funny to see the congregation in church standing to sing a hymn and having to rustle open 'The Daily Veil'.
The church itself really was gorgeous, with huge great big ceilings and a surprising amount of natural light for a church. The layout of the seating (on three sides) was tricky to manoeuvre around and we had to be inventive but it looked lovely and Im really pleased with the shots of the ceremony. It was then off outside to take some confetti shots, and head off to the reception venue.
I had gotten a lift in the Bride and Grooms wedding car so took advantage of the fact I arrived with them to dive out and get some photos of the couple in the parkland around Pembroke Lodge which has some really lovely spots. Once the rest of the guests had arrived we clicked away as people just mingled and chattered and made sure to get some photos of the reception room set out and looking stunning. Like I said at the top of the blog, Pembroke Lodge is a venue we had never been to before but I certainly hope its not long before we return. The venue is stunning and the combination of location, view and the look and feel of the building lends itself perfectly to a wedding day celebration.
Just a quick mention . . . the cake . . .WOW! This macaroon and chocolate covered beauty by Anges De Sucre sure made everybody's mouth water.
After some wonderful speeches, it was time to head back out for some more photographs with Will, Jessy and her Bridesmaids. Not straying far from the Lodge this time we found a really lovely spot on the other side of the building. A front entrance overgrown with a beautiful wisteria plant tumbling down white pillars.
As the evening drew in, everyone moved on inside to the dance floor to enjoy the fist dance and set by Jessy's brothers band Prestige. Who were great and im sure kept everyone entertained into the night!
It was time to leave. Steph & Myself had had a really lovely day. We were both very tired but it had been brilliant to be part of this wonderful wedding. Jessy & Will im sure have a lifetime of happy marriage ahead and we wish them all the best for the future!
