Elinor & Tom's - The White Rock Theatre
A first for me in 2016 was Elinor and Tom's wedding day at The White Rock Theatre, Hastings. Never before had I photographed a wedding at this iconic Hastings venue and what a delight it was. Something very different from the traditional hotel venue and the wedding party had full access to the stage and stalls.
In 2012 I photographed the wedding of Elinor's brother Simon and his lovely wife Paiwa. Its always great to be recommended between family members and friends and this was one such occasion.
The morning started with my arrival at Elinor's parents home in Guestling. Everybody seemed really chilled out and were just enjoying having their makeup done by Penny Williams. I got on with photographing the dresses and shoes and seeing what candid images I could get.
The ceremony took place at Guestling Church just up the road. This was a special venue for Elinor's family as both of her siblings and parents had had their weddings at the very same church. There is always something special about a traditional church wedding as it becomes less and less common these days. It always presents its own challenges in terms of lighting and room to manoeuvre but it does give a certain feel to a day. After the ceremony we took a quick wander through the church yard and beyond for a few shots, then it was off to The White Rock.
The theatre was certainly a spectacular venue for a wedding. Seeing all the tables set out on stage was something really different and with the stalls all lit up it made for a great setting. It was at this point I discovered that this was in fact where Tom & Elinor had met each other when they both worked at the theatre some years ago. Another plus point of the theatre is the proximity to the newly renovated Hastings Pier, which is just opposite. The pier made a great location for more photographs despite it being a bit grey and overcast.
The last photo on this blog is one id love to give special mention to. Once the tables had been cleared from the main theatre and the guests had been moved downstairs for the evening reception we were told we could use the theatre for any other shots we wanted. Knowing this was an opportunity too good to miss we had to make the best of it. I don't often big up my own work but this is an image im very proud of!
Tom, Elinor and their beautiful Daughter Ivy are a beautiful family and I wish them all the best for the future!
